AICA Paraguay’s New Executive Board

 

During its last General Assembly, held in Asuncion on October 31, AICA Paraguay has elected its new Executive Board. The new president is Adriana Almada, Lia Colombino is the Secretary General and Aníbal Cardozo Ocampo is the Treasurer. Other Board Members are Ticio Escobar, Miguel Ángel Fernández, and Alban Martínez Gueyraud, all former presidents of the Section, as well as Adriana Almada.

AICA Paraguay gathers professional art critics and art historians. Its aims are to promote art criticism and art theory, to encourage international exchanges in the field of visual arts and artistic practices in the country, as well as to incentive artistic and critical researches. The International Association of Art Critics (AICA), founded in 1950, is an international non-profit organisation linked to UNESCO, which aims to further cooperation in the visual arts and in cultural development among art critics, artists, and other art professionals. It brings together over 4.600 art professionals from some 95 countries all over the world, organised into 63 National Sections and an Open Section.

Adriana Almada is a writer, editor and independent curator. She currently serves as vice-president of AICA International and chair of its Awards Commission, as well as member of its Advisory Council and Publishing and Languages Commission. She runs Tekoha, platform for curatorial and editorial projects based in Asuncion.

Lia Colombino has a master in Museology by the University of Valladolid. She is the director of the Indigenous Art Museum of the Museo del Barro, professor at the National University of Asuncion’s Art School, and member of the Red Conceptualismos del Sur, and Ediciones de la Ura.

Aníbal Cardozo Ocampo is an architect, specialized in urban and regional planning, as well as restoration of ancient historical towns. He is professor at the National University of Asunción. He served as coordinator of Cultural Programs at the Paraguayan-German Cultural Institute.

Ticio Escobar, Miguel Ángel Fernández, and Alban Martínez Gueyraud are well known art critics, curators and professors in Paraguay and abroad.
